INKBERROW rider Leslie Law quickly set his sets on next summer's Olympics in Athens - after a fine showing at the world famous Burghley Horse Trails last weekend.

The 38-year-old silver Sydney Olympic medallist finished a respectable 11th on board Shear H20 from 54 finishers at the four-day event, won by reigning European and Badminton champion Pippa Funell.

"I'm just very pleased that we're both home safe and sound," said Law who fared consistently well in the dressage, cross country and showjumping .

Law, who scored 61.2 overall, was particularly pleased how 16.1hh Shear H20 performed.

Law picked up just 40 penalty dressage points, six time penalties on the cross country and four penalties were picked up in the show jumping finale.

"It really is the greatest test for the horse," explained Law. "He needs to go from showing grace and poise to being brave with plenty of stamina and then supple enough to jump well."

He added: "Overall, I'm pretty pleased with how things went at Burghley and things certainly got better as went along. We now have the European Championships coming up and then it really is all focus on Athens. I'll hopefully be there with the GB team again but we're probably take H20's brother L'Eau because he's two years younger."
