THE Redditch and District Small Bore Rifle League have asked Redditch Urban Council to include a rifle range in their scheme for developing the Birmingham Road playing fields.
In a letter to the council's parks committee the league said: "It is doubtful the council realises the difficulties under which some of the clubs operate.
"We suggest that a rifle range be included in the Birmingham Road scheme. A 25 yard range suitable for four firers at the same time would be suitable."
The clerk Mr W Irving Williams said that he doubted very much whether the Ministry would give approval for a rifle range.
He thought they would take the view that it might be slightly dangerous on public playing fields.
