ALFRED William Spencer, who resides in Green Lane, in Studley, an old offender well known in Redditch, was charged with being drunk and disorderly in Evesham Street on Tuesday.

Pc Bonell, the officer who arrested Mr Spencer on the night in question, said he had been acting like a madman and when he attempted to caution him on his behaviour, the defendant proceeded to become highly offensive.

Pc Bonell said he therefore felt he had no choice but to be forced to take him into custody.

Defendant was fined 10s and 7s costs or 14 days - time for repayment was refused.
