MALVERN Seconds won the toss and put Astwood Bank Seconds into bat on a rain affected pitch.
MALVERN II v ASTWOOD BANK II
The openers struggled as M Cox and Mudway beat the bat on numerous occasions. Eventually Mudway took the wicket of Williams for a duck and Cox removed the other opener for 16. After 30 overs the score was only 82-4. Then the middle order accelerated the innings with Taratino and Houghton both slogging their way to fifties. Astwood Bank finished on 219-5.
Malvern had a slight set back losing D Cox early but his brother Mark joined Walwyn and together saw the shine off the new ball.
Houghton got Astwood Bank back into the game taking three wickets including the in-form Walwyn for 40.
With little batting to come Caddy showed his intentions by hitting his first delivery straight back over the bowler's head for four. He continued in this style smashing the ball to all four corners of the ground whilst Hooper supported at the other end. Caddy hit eight massive sixes. The last six took Malvern past Astwood Bank's total. Caddy finished not out on 95 and 13-year-old Hooper was unbeaten on 17.
Malvern claimed 20 points from this impressive victory moving back up to fourth place in the league table.
