AFTER two months of planning, Ombersley Young Farmers Club held its first village fund-raising gala on August Bank Holiday Monday.
Club president Lord Sandys officially opened the event, which was in aid of Acorns Children's Hospice. He was soon followed by a performance from the Stourport Scouts and Guides Marching Band.
Children's sports proved very popular with lots of different races, as well as a Punch & Judy show, a coconut shy, bowling, a greasy pole competition and the ever-popular Splat the Rat.
The grand finale was an invitation tug-of-war, won by Orleton YFC, from Herefordshire.
More than £2,000 was raised on the day.
