KIDDERMINSTER Cricket Club had to settle for a winning draw in a rain-affected game at Wroxeter in Division One.

On a slow pitch Wroxeter lost a wicket in the third over but rallied to put on 100 runs before the next wicket fell.

Jones was out after reaching his half century and new batsman Johnson was out for a duck.

Marc Derrick had clean bowled Stovold and then had the second wicket from Sean Lloyd's catch.

Derrick had bowled nine overs and had figures of 2-19.

With the weather playing a big role in the proceedings, only 18 more runs were added before Farooq took a catch off Mark Mansell's bowling to remove opener Tilt who had scored 53.

At 187 Jonathan Wright struck, bowling G Home for 22.

Point-to-point jockey Richard Burton had been going well, but on 43 he became Derrick's third scalp with the score only 191.

Fling

A late fling produced a few more runs, producing a score of 203-6. The umpires now had to get their calculators out and arrive at the total of overs Kidderminster would be allowed to try for a win.

The figure was 37, with a score of 173 required to get the winning draw.

Kidderminster had a decent start with Wright out for 34, out of a total of 51, in the 13th over.

The total was 91 when Mansell was out for 17, but had climbed to 150 in the 31st over when opener Chris Jones lost his Aussie partner Vic Lawes following a quick knock of 30.

With six overs remaining Kidderminster needed 54 more runs. Craig Wood and Jones had scored 25 of them when Jones was bowled by Lewis for a hard earned 67.

Wood was next out for 14, and Sean Lloyd made just two. The score had reached 189-7, but the overs ran out with Ted Baylis and Derrick together.

A fair result, but perhaps one that could have gone in Kidderminster's favour.

Once again there was good bowling from Derrick with 3-43 off 16 overs. Kidderminster took 10 points to Wroxeter's seven.

Kidderminster entertain Stratford next Saturday in their last match.
