RANGERS' two previous visits to Bridgnorth were fruitless trips and their third on Saturday proved likewise in the West Midland Division One (South).

BRIDGNORTH TOWN RESERVES 6, MALVERN RANGERS 2

Rangers got off to the worst possible start with centre forward Richard Thomas capitalising on hesitancy in Rangers' defence in the opening minute to put his side ahead. The home side penned Rangers back on the defensive for long periods of the half. Rangers' best opportunity was a long range snap shot from Rob Perrins which went wide.

Rangers also lost Russell Bowen some ten minutes before the interval with a knee injury and before making a substitution Rangers conceded a second goal when Neil Darley found himself all alone at the far post to score.

Bridgnorth scored their third goal 15 minutes into the second half when the ball was played into the box and Richard Thomas scored his second goal.

After 24 minutes and it was 4-0 when a cross was met at the near post by Ashley Jones to fire home. Just one minute later and Rob Perrins' persistence was rewarded when he chased down the ball and the keepers' clearance hit him and rolled into the net. Rangers then conceded two goals in the 26th and 28th minutes both scored by Thomas with far post headers.

Rangers had the final say in the 37th minute when Rob Perrins chased another long ball and scored a good goal.

Man of the match was Rob Perrins.

Rangers have no fixture tomorrow (Saturday) but entertain Cradley Town Res on September 13.

Rangers had been drawn at home to Barnt Green Spartak on September 27 in the WFA Junior Cup, at home to Pershore Town in the Smedley Crooke Charity Cup.
