Through the kindness of the honorary members of the adult lodge and the inhabitants of Malvern Wells and the Wyche district, the members of the Wells juvenile lodge of Oddfellows were enabled to have a very enjoyable outing to Tewkesbury on Tuesday last. The weather, fortunately, was fine for the day. Malvern News, August 29, 1903.

For the first time in 13 years, the annual Dymock and District Horticultural Show was marred by inclement weather. This was more to be regretted as Earl Beauchamp had invited 300 schoolchildren to tea, in commemoration of the birth of Viscount Elmley. The children, who arrived spic and span, were driven into the tent by torrential rain. Ledbury Free Press, Septem-ber 1, 1903.

Because he can "no longer afford to live in the country," Sir Walter Monckton, the Minister of Labour, has given up Priors Court, Callow End, which he and Lady Monckton have made their home for the past three years. Malvern Gazette, August 28, 1953.

The 1st Ledbury Troop Boy Scouts, which was revived in recent months, is making steady progress. Money, of course, is required to carry on and provide the necessary amenities and equipment. I hear the Scouts are holding a jumble sale, when it will be hoped there will be plenty of jumble. I am also told that the Scouts have obtained permission to use a hut in Eastnor Park, for weekend camps. Ledbury Reporter, September 4, 1953.

International Stores are closing one of the three supermarkets they operate in the Malvern area. It is the Malvern Link branch, in Worcester Road, which is due to cease trading on Saturday. Malvern Gazette, August 31, 1978.

For the second successive year, the August Bank Holiday Carnival was blessed with good weather. The temperature soared into the 70s and there was brilliant afternoon sunshine as thousands of people flocked to the showground. A new attendance record of over 8,000 was recorded, beating last year's total of 6,000. Ledbury Reporter, August 31, 1978.
