A MALVERN RAF officer has played games on the world famous grass courts at the All England Lawn Tennis Club, Wimbledon.

Squadron Leader Sue Wood, a former pupil of Malvern Girls' College, represented the RAF at the 2003 Inter-Services Lawn Tennis Championships.

In a tournament which saw the RAF finish runners-up to the Army in three of the four categories, Sue, the number two seed, played in four matches over the two day event.

Sue, aged 38, whose parents Peter and Diana still live in Malvern, is an RAF police officer based at RAF High Wycombe in Buckinghamshire. She has served with the RAF for 15 years.

After playing on the most famous tennis courts in the world sue said: "It's a big privilege for all of us to come here, and it's a real draw for players in the RAF to really get involved in tennis. I can say I have really enjoyed playing here!"
