GIVE Prime Minister Blair his due.
Whether you agree with his approach to the Iraq problem or not, he has put every ounce of energy he possesses into his chosen course at the side of the USA.
He is a courageous leader. Surely we should be there behind him, not continuously carping on the flanks.
Not all who followed Churchill in The Second World War were staunch Conservatives, as indeed they showed at the end of the war.
But let us put our country first. That requires us to stand with the USA, whose policies are so like our own.
When the EU emerges as an independent power, hopefully with its own defence policy, then and only then can we take a more independent view of things.
