MALVERN CC visited Brockhampton on Saturday and were well beaten by the Crusader WCL Division Two champions elect.

BROCKHAMPTON v MALVERN

Malvern batted first and had an excellent start with David Arnold and Mark Baugh putting on 40 for the opening wicket.

Arnold hit some excellent drives and Baugh worked the ball well before Arnold was undone by a quick yorker from Malik.

Baugh was joined by Paul Young and they took the score to 68-1 before Baugh was out to a fine catch by Walker for 31.

Brockhampton then assumed complete control with Malik taking five wickets in ten balls to reduce Malvern to 70-7. Young hit out intelligently to take his score to 36no and Malvern finished on 114, considered a poor effort on a fine batting wicket.

Brockhampton raced to 40-0 before Tom Poole took a fine catch off Rob Francis. There was a middle order collapse as Francis and Neil Thompson bowled superbly but the partnership between Price and Mason was decisive and ran the show for Brockhampton to end Malvern's promotion challenge.

Malvern were defeated by five wickets.
