COMMUNITY groups in the Malvern Hills district are being offered free use of a local minibus.
Sports clubs, community groups and after-school clubs are among those who could benefit from help with transport.
The new Active Communities minibus has become part of ShareLINK, a Worcestershire-wide vehicle-sharing scheme. The only cost of hiring the 15-seater bus is an annual membership fee of £20 and petrol. ShareLINK also arranges for members of organisations aged over 25 to take the obligatory minibus drivers' assessment, and training for volunteer drivers is also given.
Council spokesman Clive Smith said: "This scheme provides a useful means of transporting groups and teams at little cost to themselves. Many groups struggle to get out and about because of logistics and costs, so this allows them to get around where before this was not an option."
