HOLME Lacy College is encouraging smallholders to attend a course designed especially for them.
The part-time course is taught by farmers and covers all aspects of agricultural smallholding. Modules include sheep, pig and cattle husbandry, calf rearing, tractor driving and handling, law and legislation, organic management and poultry keeping.
Theory sessions are on Tuesday evenings and practical sessions on either Friday or Saturday during the day.
The course is designed so people can join at any time in the year and chose to complete individual modules or do the whole thing.
Farmers and rural business owners will also benefit from an accounts course which starts on Monday, September 15.
The six-session course will offer specialist farm accounts training, using the Key Accounts computer programme.
