CHILDREN and adults flocked to Welland to enjoy a wealth of activities at the village's family fun day.
Held on the school sports field on Monday, attractions included a local band, Wildfire, from Hanley Castle High School, and Les Willis's Peppersound disco.
A circus demonstration came courtesy of the Shooting Stars Circus Skills group, while darts, skittles, children's races, a tombola and raffle, barbecue and various stalls entertained those attending.
Organiser Stephen Try, from the Friends of Welland, said it had gone very well indeed and estimated the number of visitors at between 300 and 400.
"It was well supported even though it was quite cool," he said.
"Visitors said it was very good."
Between £3,500 and £4,500 was raised towards traffic calming measures for the village.
The Friends of Welland, previously the Jubilee Committee, are hoping to get a variable message sign, which costs more than £8,000.
The sign will flash up a warning to motorists who are exceeding the speed limit.
The group is willing to contribute up to 50 per cent of the cost, and hopes the local authority will supply the rest.
