COLLEAGUES of a Malvern health visitor are planning to install a new bench in her memory.
Lesley Knight, who died in November 2001, aged 52, was based at Malvern Health Centre.
She had lived in the town as a girl, when her father became director of engineering at the Royal Radar Establishment, and returned six years before her death to work as a health visitor for older people. She also served on the board of South Worcestershire Primary Care Group.
Yvonne Fortey, team leader for district nursing, said colleagues had approached Malvern Access Group about installing a bench in the Magdalaine Gardens, the new sensory garden being developed at Victoria Park, close to the health centre.
She said: "It's hoped that in this part of the garden a purpose-built bench with wheelchair access will bring comfort to many people."
To make a donation towards the bench, send a cheque payable to Malvern Access Group to Phillipa White, St Saviour's Surgery, Merrick Road, Malvern, WR14 1DD.
