AS a serving member of the armed forces, I have recently been involved in a protracted correspondence with Malvern Hills District Council regarding registering my wife and I as service voters.
The 2003 Register of Electors canvass form that has just been distributed contains no instructions for service voters.
Based on written guidance I have received from MHDC, armed forces personnel who wish to remain registered as service voters should delete their names from the canvass form prior to returning it.
Service personnel are advised to check with MHDC that they are registered in accordance with their wishes, as recent experience highlights that this cannot be taken for granted.
