THE long-serving and faithful horse, Shannon, so popular with young members of the Kyre-based Riding for the Disabled Group has died. Shannon was 33 years old .

Bought by the group in 1980, he had lived for 18 years at Lower House Farm, Sutton, and when the group moved to Grafton Farm, Bockleton, Shannon went too. Shannon was a great character much loved by children and adults alike and he brought immense pleasure to countless young disabled riders, a spokesman for the group said this week.

About two years ago Shannon was awarded a long service medal for his devoted duty to the group.

Riding group organiser, Wendy Jones, said Shannon will be missed by her dedicated escorts and helpers and the many riders he carried along the way.
