LOCAL land artist Simon English has created a work of art outside The Gallery in Stratford to celebrate an exhibition by fellow land artist Andy Goldsworthy.

Simon, famous for the rabbits mown into a field in Warwick Road in Stratford, was set the challenge of creating a piece of art in the same vein as Goldsworthy's work which would last for the duration of the exhibition.

Andy Goldsworthy creates transient sculptures from natural materials and captures his work in photographs, 15 of which make up the touring exhibition in Stratford.

Simon created After the Flood, which consists of water reeds woven into the trees in the Gallery car park to create a tide mark where flood water would have pushed up the natural materials.

The work of both artists will be on show in Stratford until September 14.
