FIREFIGHTERS had to launch a rescue boat after sheep became trapped in the River Avon at Harvington.
Three of the sheep survived their ordeal and two died in the incident, which happened on Sunday at around 3pm at Anchor Lane, Harvington, near The Mill.
Two fire tenders from Evesham attended the scene, together with the inflatable rescue boat.
"We launched the boat and two firefighters went in the boat and got the sheep out and put them on the bank," said leading firefighter John Wood.
It is thought the sheep got into the river from a nearby field.
