WORCESTERSHIRE'S Matt Neal slipped to fourth place in the British Touring Car Championship after a mixed day at Brands Hatch.
The Honda Racing driver from Hanbury, near Droitwich, fended off a strong challenge from Vauxhall's James Thompson to take fourth place in the first race of the day, with victory going to MG's Warren Hughes.
However, his hopes in the second race were short-lived as he was pushed off the track and out of the race at the first corner.
MG driver Colin Turkington won the race.
Neal now trails series leader Yvan Muller by 69 points with four rounds left, the next two at Donington Park on September 7.
