MALVERN Town secured their third succesive West Midlands League Premier Division victory against Wolverhampton Casuals on Saturday.

MALVERN TOWN 3, WOLVERHAMPTON CASUALS 0

Although Town eventually ran out more than comfortable winners, the Casuals had given the home a number of problems during a fairly even first half.

Malvern had strong appeals for a penalty turned down in only the second minute, when Nathan Owen appeared to have been tripped and moments later Rik Halion saw a searing drive tipped over the crossbar.

But Casuals had their moments too and squandered two good chances in the opening 20 minutes.

As the half progressed, Town began to assert themselves more and put the visitors under increasing pressure, but without ever reaching the heights of Tuesday's excellent first half showing against Brierley Hill.

The second half was a different matter though, as Town came out fired up and playing at a pace the visitors could not compete with, a goal was inevitable and indeed it came in the 50th minute when cross was deflected into the path of Scott Morris, who headed home the simplest of chances.

Minutes later Adam Baldwin saw a superb drive come back off the angle of post and crossbar and Halion saw another long range effort, spectacuarly saved by the Casuals goalkeeper.

But Town were now rampant, and with the visitors penned in their own half, a second goal was not long in coming.

This time Lee Hooper was the architect, picking up the ball on the left, he swung an excellent cross field pass into the path of Morris who drove the ball home from just inside the area, to secure his side's second goal and his seventh in just three games.

Hooper then squandered two opportunities, Morris fired wide and Des Cox was denied by the keeper, but a third goal eventually came in the 70th minute, when Nathan Owen fired against the goalkeeper from point blank range, only for the ball rebound invitingly into Owen's path, who gratefully headed home.

The closing minutes past without any major incident, as Town had done their job effeciently and conserved their energy for Tuesday's nights home game against Wellington.
