BRIAN Dandy said (You Say, August 4) that the English football team "cannot beat Australia".
I presume his statement is based on the result of the ridiculous 22-a-side kick- around that took place at Upton Park last winter - not exactly a serious test of anybody's prowess.
He also said that he doubted whether "a UK or even European team would be much more successful against Australia in cricket, basketball or netball".
I notice he conveniently excludes Rugby Union from his list, and I seem to remember sitting in the Brewongle Stand of the Sydney Cricket Ground on January 6, 2003 when England beat Australia in the fifth and final test match.
When it comes to boasting, the Aussies certainly are world champions.
