EILEEN Turner of Bromfield and Little Hereford took the scalp of 2001 English singles champion Sue Harriott to reach the quarter-finals of the National Express Champion of Champions event in the Women's All England Bowls finals at Royal Leamington Spa.
Turner found herself 9-0 down to Exmouth's Harriott after eight ends of their last 16 clash, but the Herefordshire ace staged a spectacular recovery to win 21-15.
Turner then faced Hampshire's Rosemary Bailey but lost 21-12.
Earlier, Turner opened with a 17-12 win over the Isle of Wight's Audrey Abraham, who conceded the match due to the effects of the excessive heat on a day when conditions proved too much for several players.
Lynn Sandoz of Gilt Edge, Kidderminster was edged out 21-18 in the opening round by Ann Roll from Sutton, Surrey.
Littleton's Angela Roberts reached the final of the Secretaries and Treasurers Trophy, but the treasurer of the Worcestershire County Women's Bowling Association was beaten 21-20 by Berkshire's Sue Dadson.
