A YOUNG woman had to be cut out of her car by firefighters this morning after an accident in Fernhill Heath, near Worcester.

The crash happened just before 8.45am on the junction of the A38 and Hurst Lane, just outside the Bull Inn.

The woman - aged around 19 years old - was driving towards Droitwich, when her Peugeot 106 was involved in collision with a Lada Reba.

She suffered pelvic and spinal injuries.

The driver of the Lada was not believed to have been seriously hurt.

An air ambulance, fire and rescue crew, an ambulance and the police all attended the scene.

Paramedics decided to take the injured woman to Worcestershire Royal Hospital by road ambulance.

Traffic was delayed when police closed one lane of the A38 in the aftermath of the accident.
