n ONCE more, I have to reply to the misguided fulminations of Gary Webb.
Of course the bosses of the top 300 companies are only concerned with profits and shareholders dividends. Any fool knows that.
That's the essence of capitalism. However, human nature makes capitalism inevitable. Notwithstanding, postal services, energy, health services and general administration should remain firmly in the hands of the state and its subordinate regional and unitary authorities.
Baroness Thatcher's mania for privatisation was wrong, while Mr Blair's attitude to her actions is pathetic.
Nevertheless, people don't rise to head great companies without extensive knowledge of economics. That's why such people should be heeded when they advocate British entry into the Eurozone.
