UNDER humid clouds at Peopleton an U10s game saw two under strength sides play a most enjoyable fixture.

DRAKES BROUGHTON U10s v HANLEY & UPTON U10s

Visiting captain Sam Harler won the toss and had no hesitation in opting to field and was rewarded with a tight opening bowling attack from Pantling and Chambers both bowling three overs and taking one wicket apiece for three runs.

Perks, in only his second game, bowled a lively spell (2-4) and with tidy support bowling from Clowes (1-7), Astill and Lloyd all keeping the batsmen from scoring.

Drakes Broughton were six wickets down with an final score of 215 after 16 overs.

Skipper Harler opened the innings showing a good standard of defensive play yet keeping the scoreboard ticking over. With a small target Hanley realised the need to avoid losing wickets and the new players Lloyd, Perks and Astill applied themselves well to this task.

This meant the last pair of Lechmere and Clowes saw Hanley through to 244-4 at the close. The result showed how the Hanley bowling has improved this season with a fewer number of wides being conceded which did have a bearing on the result.

A match played well in the spirit of the game and enjoyed by all.

Hanley & Upton's man of the match was Oliver Perks.
