NOMADS Sunday Second XI made it two wins in two weekends when they defeated Blockley in a rearranged fixture at Bransford.

WORCESTER NOMADS SUNDAY II v BLOCKLEY

Local rivals Colwall cried off, but Cotswold village side Blockley were able to step into the breach and brought a useful side across the border.

Winning the toss and electing to bat first on a hot afternoon the visitors were indebted to skipper Simon Vick who made an impressive unbeaten 90, with some strong hitting. Good support came from Hicks with 26 and Gilbert with 22.

U15s bowler Ben Chatfield finally got some result with another good spell of quick bowling, taking 2-41, removing both openers. U14 bowler Pimlow bowled tightly, making the ball swing both ways, and U14 Cook again bowled a more than useful spell. Blockley finally finished their innings on 191-5.

Nomads lost Tom Brain early on to a dreadful delivery which barely got off the ground, before Pearson (30) and Broadfield began to make some inroads.

Broadfield in particular, following on from his 51 the previous weekend, looked to play his shots, and was rewarded with an excellent innings of 66.

Alex Isaacs (37no) and Cameron Pimlow (23no) saw the home side to victory with 3.4 overs to spare, by the margin of six wickets.

Skipper Vick rounded off a good all-round performance with 2-19, but broke a finger in attempting an unsuccessful catch.
