WORCESTER Nomads Sunday 1st XI were pleased to get a game in after recent cancellations, and made the journey down to old foes Moreton-in-Marsh.

MORETON-IN-MARSH v WORCESTER NOMADS SUNDAY I

Nomads batted first, and opener Steve Bowman was immediately on the attack, despite losing fellow opener Dexter and the Massey both without scoring.

James Kelly helped steady the ship with 20, and Dave Finbow (16) and Malcolm Jones (24) made useful contributions. Bowman fell 11 short of a much deserved century late in the innings, as Nomads failed to use all 40 of their allocation, being dismissed for 185 in the 39th over.

In reply Moreton's innings was dominated by opening bat Hurrell, who single-handedly kept the home side on track. Youngster Tom Longley continues to show tremendous promise, with a fine return of 2-26 from two spells in his eight overs, Lakin also bowled well with 2-24.

Come the final over, Moreton needed 13 for victory, with Hurrell at the non-striker's end. A single off the first ball gave them scent of victory, but Bowman removed the opener with the next ball for an excellent 113.

Moreton were unable to lay bat on ball from then on and were dismissed for 174.
