COLWALL visited Swindon on Saturday for this Gloucester/Wiltshire Division One, 2nd XI game.

COLWALL II V SWINDON II

On winning the toss Colwall chose to bat first, a decision they soon regretted.

They slipped to 35-4 losing Hankins (1), Ford (0), Goode (14) and Oliver (14) to Barrett 4-25. Matt Berry and Matt King (22) mounted a slight recovery, but wickets continued to fall on a regular basis. A late flourish from Barnes (14) and Thompson (13) enabled the team to reach a disappointing 113 all out.

After a rousing team talk by skipper Oliver, Colwall took to the field in a determined mood.

An excellent opening spell by Dentith (0-21) and 14-year-old Mike King (2-21) gave Colwall early hope as they reduced Swindon to 11-2, aided by a great catch by Paul Barnes at mid-wicket and a superb leg cutter from King which uprooted Williamson's' off stump.

Further excellent spells by Matt King and Brian Goode (1-20 off 12 overs) gave Colwall a glimpse but they could not dislodge Barrett (46no).

Swindon, reaching the target with five overs to spare and six wickets in hand.
