THE Third round of the Malvern Angling League took place on Sunday at Clevelode on the River Severn.

On a bright and sunny morning most members found fish very hard to come by with many having to fish for bleak just to get some team points.

The winner of the individual contest was Alan Lancett of the Ledbury Tackle Centre team who fish on peg 12 with a ground bait feeder rig to take a number of bream up to the 2lbs mark and some roach to return 6-14-0 to the scales.

In second place on peg six was the veteran angler Mick Harris of Hanley Castle who used his normal ground bait feeder rig with a maggot hook bait to find one good size

bream and some small roach to end with 4-6-0.

In third place was Steve Davies of Ledbury Tackle Centre with 3-0-0 of small roach and one good perch.

The team winner on the day were Ledbury Tackle Centre, who only joined the league this season and were fishing their third contest, with 11 points with Barnards Green in second place with 15 points.

THE Barnards Green Angling Club fished their pairs contest on the River Severn at Clevelode.

After the recent rain the members arrived to find the river high and coloured so hopes were high of some good weight, however, most member decided to ignore the big fish and to go for the large number of bleak that were feeding in the coloured water.

In first place was John Draper, who was one member who did fish for the better fish and was rewarded with a bream of 4-14-0 and some eels on a ground bait feeder rig to end with 6-14-0 from peg six.

In second place, on peg nine, Paul Harris set his store out to fish for the small bleak that were topping in front of him and he took 158 bleak to return a weight of 6-8-0 to the scales.

In third place was local match star Mark Newman who ignored his normal big fish tactic and again fished for the bleak to weigh in with 5-0-0.

The winner of the pairs match were the father and son team of Paul and Ben Harris with a combined weight of 10-0-0.
