MALVERN Town boss Neil Hunt has added a number of new faces to the this season's squad and further signings are expected, and this despite virtually all of last season's squad again committing themselves to Malvern.

But Hunt is still on the look out for new faces because striker and skipper Dean Roberts, striker Luke Willetts and long serving defender Nick Clayton all miss the opening games due to holidays.

Striker Billy Davis is still suffering with back problems following his operation earlier this year, and although defender Craig Williams is making excellent progress following a knee injury sustained last March, it is unlikely that Williams will be 100 per cent fit come the opening games.

However, Hunt has signed ex-Derby County youngster and midfielder Tim Jenkins, former Town player Scott Morris, who is comfortable either up front or in midfield, has signed from Bromyard, whilst utility player Daryl Gormley has also joined from the same club.

Joining Jenkins, Morris and Gormley, is midfielder Adam Baldwin, who has been at Alvechurch and another ex-Town player John Frain has signed again from Northfield.

Also joining Town is the young former West Bromwich Albion goalkeeper Peter Nightingale, who along with regular keeper Dave Alden, now fully recovered from a bad thigh injury that kept him sidelined for six months last season, gives Town strength in this key area.

Hunt said: "We have plenty of depth in the squad, but it has a young look about it and we could probably do with a little bit of experience in one or two areas, especially as we are missing some key players for the first couple of weeks of the season."

Town general manager Richard Anson added, "We possibly suffered due to a slowish start last season and we don't really want to make the same mistake again.

"Westfields set a standard last year that no one could compete with, but I think it will be more open this season, although sides like Kington, Tipton and Tividale, Market Drayton and Ledbury are sure to be in the frame, plus of course the odd surprise packet or two."

"But the spirit is excellent here, which is a big plus and we are not short on ability and we will be disappointed if we are not challenging come the final count."
