WORCESTERSHIRE will decide later today whether Anurag Singh or Stephen Peters will open their innings in tomorrow's Cheltenham & Gloucester Trophy semi-final showdown against Lancashire at a packed New Road (10.15am).

Both are bidding to stake their claim in the County's current Second Eleven Championship match with Somerset at Kidderminster.

"We'll probably make the decision tonight," said Worcestershire's director of cricket Tom Moody, whose side will be bidding for a place in the final against Gloucestershire at Lord's on Saturday, August 30.

Gloucestershire booked their sixth Lord's final in five seasons with a tense one-wicket win over Derbyshire at Bristol yesterday.

Moody said: "We have been preparing for tomorrow's match as we would for any other game. We are just looking forward to it.

"We have just got to go into it and execute our plans. Both teams have match-winners in their squads and I think it will come down to who has the cool head on the day."

Worcestershire's long-serving all-rounder David Leatherdale, who scored 80 and 62 in the previous rounds against Yorkshire and Leicestershire respectively, said: "Lancashire have a high quality squad. They have two top overseas players in Stuart Law and Carl Hooper, plus people like Andy Flin-toff, Glen Chapple and Peter Martin.

"Lancashire and Worcestershire games have always had a bit of spice about them going back to the old days and the full squads ourselves and they had in the 1980s.

"We will have to perform at the top of our game, but we have proved already against Yorkshire and Leicestershire that we are a difficult side to beat."

The crowd tomorrow will be approaching 5,700 and the gates will open at 6am.

New Road chief executive Mark Newton said: "We want the day to be, as always, a family day.

"Lancashire have sold around 1,200 tickets so will have plenty of support themselves."
