Hereford Three Choirs Festival, from August 16-22, features beautiful music and choral performances in the cathedral which are not to be missed.

The first big choral concert sees Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra join the Festival Chorus on August 17 and again on the 18th, and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra takes over from August 19-22.

The Three Cathedral Choirs will be singing at various times throughout the festival including Evensong, at 5.30pm, on August 18, 19, 21 and 22.

They will also give an afternoon concert in the cathedral on August 20, at 2:15pm.

Jazz fans will enjoy a session by Tom Rees Roberts on trumpet and flugelhorn and Steve Jones on keyboard in All Saints Church on Monday, August 18, at 8.30pm.

The morning of August 19 brings a performance from Okeanos, who will perform contemporary chamber music in the Baptist Church at 11am.

On the same day, the life of Elizabeth I will be explored through music in The Cardinall's Musick, at 2.30pm, in Dore Abbey.

Violinist Suzanne Casey plays pieces by Telemann, Prokofiev and Bach in All Saints Church, at 10.30pm, on August 21.

For theatre lovers, The Comedy of Errors is being staged in the Bishop's Palace garden at 4pm, on August 19, 21 and 22, and 8pm on August 20.

Textile crafts will be displayed from August 18- 23 at the Old Mayor's Parlour, Church Street, in the Threads of Time exhibition created by members of the Hereford Textile Crafts Group.
