BROADBAND internet could be a reality in Leigh Sinton if another 44 people register an interest.
Chris Burtenshaw is running a campaign to persuade people to show an interest in high-speed ADSL technology.
In order for it to work, BT must upgrade the local telephone exchange but needs 150 people to register their interest first.
There are 106 people already registered and Mr Burtenshaw hopes the remainder needed will come forward.
The exchange covers everyone with a telephone number beginning with 01886 83XXXX.
He has set up a website, www.leighbroadband.org. uk and, helped by friends and colleagues, has also distributed leaflets and posters around Leigh Sinton.
ADSL technology is about 10 times faster than traditional dial-up modems at not much more cost.
The service is always connected, and users can use the same phone lines for calls while connected to the internet.
