A BUSINESS plan outlining hopes for the new Malvern Hospital is being drawn up.

A new body has been formed to create the plan which is expected to be submitted for consideration by the South Worcestershire Primary Care Trust board in October.

The Malvern Hospital Project Team, chaired by Mike Ridley, chief executive of South Worcestershire Primary Care Trust, met last week.

Members include Malvern Hills District Council's leader Tom Wells, Pat Merrick from the hospital League of Friends and representatives of the Malvern Hospital Management Board.

Mrs Merrick said: "It was excellent. Everyone was singing from the same hymn sheet.

"I'm sure it's the start of something productive. It's early days but everyone is enthusiastic."

The group will discuss funding, how the site will be developed and the services to be provided at the planned new hospital at Seaford Court.

It is the first business plan drawn up since the PCT formed in April 2002. Once the plan is considered by the PCT board it would then be studied by the West Midlands Strategic Health Authority.
