RECENTLY very, very late of R5live an alarming development was reported in the genetically modified plants saga.

A Canadian farmer was sued and heavy damages awarded (subject to appeal) for infringing patents by growing GM Soya without the authorisation and purchase of seed from Monsanto.

The farmer had the habit of saving part of last years crop to plant on. But, unknowingly, his crop had become contaminated from neighbouring acreage's, which had been adjusted to be resistant to the Monsanto weed killer Round-up.

Next, the GM seed will be adjusted so that its seed is infertile and you will only know if your crop has been cross-infected many wasted months later.

This processing can be applied to other bulk crops, wheat, maize, rice etc.

Such is the rapaciousness of man, it is unlikely that the beneficial effects of GM will be reaped except at a price.
