THE final inter-club event between the Evesham Wheelers and Stratford CC provided a narrow winning margin for Stratford with both clubs below strength in numbers and regular riders due to the holiday season.
Stratford were the victorious team on actual time with the best six riders but with a very much reduced margin when compared with the earlier challenge event(2.29.13 against 2.30.52).
Evesham had more success in the age-related veteran competition, with their best three riders improving the total standard time from the previous event and beating Stratford in the process.
Top six Evesham times: Brian Newton 22.20, Brian Lee 25.14, Arja Scarsbrook 25.28, Paul Stockdale 25.35, Steve McGrath 25.51, Ben Stockdale 26.24.
Top six Stratford times: Robin Corder 22.19, Mark Heath 24.16, Nigel Jones 24.37, Lloyd Walton 25.13, Alex Laycock 26.07, Michael Hill 26.41.
Other Evesham times, Adrian Main 26.46, Andy Dolphin 27.29, John Webster 27.30, Ivor Griffiths 28.21, Dave Purser 28.26.
Sunday's club run will be led by Phil Stayte to a surprise destination, meet in the High Street at 9am. On the following Wednesday, Steve McGrath is leading another mountain bike ride up Bredon Hill, starting from the Cider Mill Hampton at 6.15pm.
