THE Vale club played host to the Worcestershire County Ladies' Centenary Foursomes competition. A record entry of 136 competitors enjoyed a course which was both challenging and in excellent condition.

The County Foursomes Cups went to Pat Mayo (Vale) and Jenny Marsden (Evesham) with a net score of 71 beating Rosie Loh and Pauline Laight (Vale) who carded a net 73. Prizes were donated by Rover Cars.

Best gross of 83 was won by county captain Philippa Gunn and Wendy Bill (Stourbridge).

Nearest the pin on the third was won by Pat Catlin (Worcestershire) and by Rosie Loh on the 14th. Prizes were donated by The Vale.

On the home front the mixed teams completed a memorable double over Brailes to retain the Gibbs-Mitchell Salver with the last four pairings for the Vale coming in with good wins.

The annual Vale-Evesham match resulted in a tight and enjoyable tussle won by Evesham by 4 -3 .
