TWO coaches from Worcestershire will be stepping out onto the hallowed turf of the Millennium Stadium, Cardiff, on Sunday at the Community Shield game between Arsenal and Manchester United.

Annette Vennard, a manager and coach of Worcester City girls team, and Bob Gibney, manager of Bredon Colts under nines, will both take part in a coaching demonstration of young footballers prior to or at half time.

Andy Norman, Football Dev-elopment Officer at the Worc-estershire FA, explained: "Mc-Donalds are the grass roots sponsors for the Football Association and the partnership has formed a national coaching initiative to train 8,000 coaches over the next four years.

"Some of the coaches will be from the local football community and others will be McDonalds staff.

"In March and April we ran a Level 1 coaching course in Worcester for 17 coaches, from Charter Standard Clubs.

"Places on the course were free and the coaches also rec-eived football equipment comprising balls, cones and bibs as well as coaching kit, being a tracksuit and training clothing.

"This was all courtesy of McDonalds who then also gave each coach two tickets to the Community Shield.

"The West Midlands region of the FA were then asked to provide coaches for the coaching demonstration and Bob and Annette volunteered."

Annette and Bob are looking forward to a great day demonstrating some of the football practises they learnt on the training course.

The WFA in partnership with the Herefordshire FA are currently organising a women's only McDonalds course and there will be another course during the forthcoming season.
