STEPHEN Peters staked a claim for a place in Worcestershire's C&G Trophy semi-final by stroking 44 on the first day of the Second XI Championship clash with Somerset at Kidderminster.
Anurag Singh, his rival for the opening batsman slot, hit 25 as the County reached 104-2 in reply to Somerset's 450-4, Arul Suppiah making 177 and Matthew Wood 124 with Daryl Mitchell taking 2-28. James Pipe returned to the side after an eye injury.
