ENGINEERING works are causing major cuts to train services on the Cotswold line this month.

Since Monday, there have been no services running between Oxford and Moreton. Buses are replacing trains along the stretch of line until lunchtime tomorrow when normal service resumes.

Next week - between Monday and Friday - the line between Moreton and Worcester will be affected. Again, bus services and taxis will replace trains.

Network Rail communications manager Jonathan Radley said: "We would like to apologise in advance to passengers for the obvious inconvenience that these major service alterations will cause. We hope that passengers will understand that these engineering works are necessary in order to improve the performance of the railway infrastructure. August is the best time to do this work as schools, colleges and universities are not in term and many regular commuters take summer holidays during this month."
