TWO EVESHAM football teams came head to head in a great match which is set to raise more than £600 for charity.

Players from Tesco and Safeway got together last Sunday to play the annual Retail Challenge Cup on Evesham United's Common Road ground.

Match organiser Mark Payne said: "It was really hot but we all enjoyed the 6th annual match thanks to all the Common Road staff. We raised £530 on the day and we have about another £100 to come in from Safeway Stores in donations.

All the proceeds are going to St Richard's Hospice in Worcester." The Tesco team were the victors with six goals to two. Man of the match was Tesco player, Mark Lewis.
