I AM wondering whether Dave Perks has ever actually passed a driving test (Letters, July 24).

He bemoans how difficult it is to maintain the speed limit in "a high power, modern car". Well if that's the case Mr Perks then the solution is simple - don't drive one.

In answer to his questions:

When driving you should be able to watch your speedometer, the road ahead, and the road behind. If you can't do this perhaps you should take some more lessons.

Children should have more road sense but unfortunately don't. However, as your car will do more damage to them than vice versa you should account for this when driving.

Dangerous and speeding motorists kill more people a year than all the other villains put together. Therefore regulation of the motorist is time well spent.

Yet another writer (Dave Perks, July 24 letters) thinks it is difficult to keep a high power, modern car below the 30mph limit.

He also asks: "Are we supposed to watch our speedometers or the road ahead?"

I suggest he joins an advanced driving course. He will then find these things are possible.
