AN 85-year-old Kiddermin-ster woman's house was broken into on Monday - but the three culprits ran off empty-handed.

Police are appealing for information after an attempted distraction burglary at the pensioner's home in Stourbridge Road..

The woman returned to her house after going shopping at about 6.50pm on Monday to find a man outside, who told her she needed to turn her stopcock off.

She refused to allow him into her home and told him her landlord would deal with it.

When she went inside she saw the downstairs windows had been forced open and two men running away.

The first offender is described as a 6ft white man, aged about 35, with tidy, short, very dark hair.

He was wearing a royal blue sweatshirt with long sleeves.

The second offender is described as a 5ft 4ins, slim, white man, also about 35 years old, with facial stubble and tattoos on his arms.

He was wearing a black vest and dark trousers. There is no description of the third man.

The three men ran off towards Chester Road North.

A forensic examination has been carried out at the woman's home and investigations are continuing.
