GARDENING CLUB: The chairman warmly welcomed everyone to the July meeting last Thursday at 7.30pm at Wulstan Hall including several visitors from Eckington whom we hope enjoyed themselves enough to become future members.

The speaker, Michael Ecob, introduced us to The National Gardens Scheme and it's benefits. He then showed slides of several of the gardens in the area whose owners subscribe to the scheme. The competition A Photograph of a Garden in Summer attracted 13 entries and was won by Eileen Spalding, second Rita Hazeldine and third Margaret Elliott.

The next meeting is on September 25 at 7.30pm at Wulstan Hall, when a talk on Cottage Garden Flowers will be given by George Alway. All visitors and members will be most welcome.

FLOWER AND CRAFT SHOW: Is being held on August 9 at the Riverside Gardens at the Angel Hotel. Pershore Heritage are staging an exhibition detailing the history of the Flower Show which will be staged at this year's show. Other attractions will include candle making, Rachel's award-winning ice cream, the Malvern Brass Band, and feathered star from the Owl Rescue Centre.

There will also be many stalls and exhibition marquees which will house the arts and crafts and flower arrangements plus the many other entrants which include classes for children and fruit and vegetable entrants.

Val Woods is looking for new members to join the organisation of next year's show, as many hands make light of the preparation work, and on the day. Contact Val Woods on 554235 for further details.

ARTS THEATRE CLUB: The next evening meeting will be held at Pershore Town Hall on Friday, September 19, at 7.30pm when the speaker will be Mrs Shirley Noble, her subject being Kings and Queens - Their Mistresses and Lovers. New members are always welcome. Contact Ann Buckley on 01386 860014 for further details.

PERSHORE ABBEY CHOIR: New choir members are needed for the Abbey Choir. Age is not important as the present senior choir ranges from 22 years old up to the age of 82-year-old and they are eager to pass on some of their vast experiences to new members.

The director of music, Sheila Joynes, says that the ability to read music was not as necessary as enthusiasm, a good voice and a sense of humour. Sheila Joynes is available on 01386 556129.
