TWO budding tennis players are taking good advantage of a minibus sharing scheme from Worcestershire County Council's Passenger and Fleet Transport Unit (PFTU).

Jodie Fletcher, aged seven, and Bradley Smith, aged four, (above) attend Wishing Well Kids Club which is one of the first local organisations to test the two new ShareLINK minibuses provided by the council.

The aim of the ShareLINK buses is to ensure affordable transport is available to charities, voluntary groups and other non-profit organisations in the county.

Jodie and Bradley, together with their playmates and staff, are regularly ferried by the vehicles to and from Perdiswell Young People's Leisure Club where the club meets.

ShareLINK means that groups like Wishing Well, which do not have their own transport, will now be able to use either one of the two ShareLINK minibuses.

"The aim of ShareLINK is to provide affordable group transport that will help reduce social and rural isolation, create improved access to services and develop a strong sense of community," said Chris Atkinson, PFTU's vehicle sharing officer.

The two ShareLINK minibuses are both new 15-seater Mercedes Sprinters.

ShareLINK is funded by the Countryside Agency, Wychavon District Council and Worcestershire County Council.
