A TEENAGER who subjected a woman to a campaign of harassment after she reported him to police for damaging a car has been given 13 months custody.

Dean Stokes branded Susan Lake "a grasser" and threatened to slash her son's face and burgle her home.

The 20-year-old terrified the victim during 11 incidents over a two-month period last year often reducing her to tears, Worcester Crown Court heard.

Stokes, of Grenville Road, Dines Green, Worcester, pleaded guilty to putting Mrs Lake in fear of violence under the Protection from Harassment Act 1997.

Chance

In February, Judge David Matthews deferred sentence for six months to give the defendant a chance to comply with a previous community punishment order for vehicle interference and going equipped for theft.

But the probation service said he failed to carry out the work and was facing breach proceedings.

Stokes' barrister Trevor Meegan said he only managed to complete five hours out of 140 hours community work. An accident injured his leg and he needed 32 stitches in it.

Mrs Lake was living in Dines Green with her son Jason and 13-year-old daughter when she made a police statement implicating Stokes for damage to her friend's car, the court heard.

On March 11 last year, Stokes approached her in Gresham Road and began intimidating her.

He confessed to calling her a grass but flatly denied other harassment.
