BARNARDS Green 1st XI travelled to Bretforton for a Worcestershire Sunday Clubs League fixture.

BRETFORTON v BARNARDS GREEN

On winning the toss, the home team elected to bat. The first part of the innings was dominated by Daryll Mitchell who made batting on a difficult pitch, which offered lift and movement off the seam, look easy.

The Green opening attack of Churchill and Bell both bowled well without much luck. The introduction of Mark Hooper (2-33) brought the breakthrough.

A fine piece of fielding from Simon Cook, who ran out Mitchell (82) going for a second run, and Rob Tyler, who picked up a wicket in his second over, put Barnards Green right back into the game.

Paul Jones crashed the ball around for a rapid 53 but wickets were tumbling around him, with Judd Doughty (4-30) the chief destroyer, supported by Paul McDonald (2-15).

Bretforton's innings ended on 215.

In reply the Green were pegged back at the start by some accurate bowling from Smith (2-10) and Jones.

The Green limped to 59-6 against some short of a length bowling which resulted in four catches behind the wicket.

Duncan Bell (27), Clive Churchill (17) and Rob Tyler (20) added a little respectability but the Green were well short, finishing on 110 all out.
