PARTNERS in a new project have leapt into action to make life better for Spa folk.

Installation of rural broadband, transport to the Royal Worcester Hospital and a heritage trail are among the ideas from Droitwich Spa Area Partnership.

The group aims to tackle town issues and needs raised in a number of local surveys.

Wychavon District Council is stumping up thousands of pounds to help support partnershipprojects, which include;

l A pilot transport scheme from the Spa and surrounding areas to the Royal Worcester Hospital

l Rejuvenation of Berry Hill Industrial Estate

l Transport to take young people from their homes to the Youth House in Old Coach Road

l Rural broadband

l Rural safety schemes

l Heritage trail

l Healthy walks and green necklace of footpaths

Partnership chairman and district councillor Eileen Hope (Con - Droit.SouthEast) led a meeting last Monday night (July 28) when the finishing touches were put to the plans.

"Wychavon has put up £40,000 and we also hope to attract more funding to the area to benefit the people of Droitwich Spa," she said.

The group is made up of representatives from voluntary, community, statutory and business organisations.

Members include Droitwich Canals Trust, Droitwich Council for Voluntary

Service, and South Worcestershire Primary Care Trust, local authorities and Westlands Community Planning Forum.
