I REFER to your headline Spy cameras to police car's ban, July 17.

I have, over the past months, watched with interest the debate over the closing of the road at Wyre Piddle. I am intrigued as to what, or who, is so important at Wyre Piddle that the road is to be closed. I am also intrigued that Worcestershire CC at, I assume the rate payers expense, is going to erect traffic lights with CCTV and other traffic improvements when, to the layman, all that is needed are pinch points to restrict traffic flow.

When Bridge Street in Evesham was pedestrianised a few years ago it was deemed impossible to stop non-essential cars from driving into Bridge Street. A matter now that has been addressed with the solution put forward by the public from the very outset. It is now very important that not only is Wyre Piddle cut off at one end but that cameras should be installed to prosecute any one going in the open end. It begs the question of who will monitor the CCTV and pay for it and also who will be allowed into Wyre Piddle. Will it become a private estate with passes issued?

This brings me back to the first question, who, or what, is so important about Wyre Piddle to warrant this expenditure?
